Halifax Ultimate (HU) is the largest and longest running Ultimate organization in Nova Scotia. Originally called the Halifax Ultimate Recreational League (HURL), it started in 1991 with four teams meeting once per week on the Halifax Commons. Since then, the summer league has grown to provide year-round playing opportunities using HRM's grass fields in the summer, and then transitioning to turf facilities (BMO Soccer Centre, East Coast Varsity Dome, and East Hants Sportsplex) and court at the Canada Games Centre.
In addition to league play, Halifax Ultimate is host to an annual indoor 4v4 continuous court tournament, C4P, which attracts up to 24 teams of all skill levels from across the Maritimes. They run several other events, including the Canadian Ultimate Championships in 2006, Summer league playoffs, and an annual gala that started in 2017.
